DMARC Examiner vs PowerDMARC: An Honest Comparison (2026)
DMARC Examiner from $2.99/mo vs PowerDMARC from $15/mo — real pricing, what their free tier includes, hosted services, API access and MCP. Pick the right PowerDMARC alternative for your team.

PowerDMARC is one of the most feature-dense products in email authentication. They ship hosted services for almost every protocol in the stack — DMARC, SPF, DKIM, MTA-STS, TLS-RPT and BIMI — plus geolocation reporting, an AI agent and a partner programme for MSPs. If you have been comparing DMARC tools, they are hard to miss.
We are newer and deliberately narrower. This comparison is written by our team, and there are several things PowerDMARC does that we simply do not. All figures below come from each vendor's published pricing, checked in July 2026.
At a glance
| DMARC Examiner | PowerDMARC | |
|---|---|---|
| Free tier | 1 domain, 1,000 emails/mo, 14-day retention | 1 domain, 10,000 emails/mo, 10-day history, Hosted BIMI |
| Entry paid tier | $2.99/month (Basic) | $15/month, $12 annually (Basic) |
| Domains on entry tier | 3 | 5 |
| Price per domain, entry tier | ~$1 | ~$3 |
| Forensic (RUF) reports | Basic, $2.99/month | Free tier and up |
| REST API | Pro, $9.99/month, public OpenAPI docs | Partner Program, quoted on request |
| MCP server for LLMs | Yes, native | No — they ship their own AI Agent instead |
| Hosted BIMI | On our roadmap | Yes, from the free tier |
| Hosted SPF / MTA-STS / TLS-RPT | No | Yes |
| Hosted DKIM | No | Enterprise |
| Geolocation reporting | No | Yes, all plans |
| Lookalike domain detection | No | Enterprise |
| Language support | English + Spanish, full product | English-first |
| Deployment model | SaaS, EU-hosted | SaaS |
Read that table honestly: they have more features than we do. The question is whether you need them, and what you are paying for the ones you do not.
Pricing
PowerDMARC prices on outbound DMARC-compliant email volume. Their free plan covers one domain and 10,000 compliant emails a month with 10 days of history. Basic is $15/month, or $12 billed annually, for 5 domains, 100,000 emails, one year of history and two users. Enterprise and their Partner Program are custom quotes.
DMARC Examiner:
- Free: 1 domain, 1 user, 1,000 emails/month, 14-day retention. No card.
- Basic ($2.99/month): 3 domains, 3 users, 25,000 emails/month, 90-day retention, configurable alerts, forensic (RUF) reports.
- Pro ($9.99/month): 10 domains, 10 users, 100,000 emails/month, 1-year retention, REST API, advanced alerts, Slack and webhook integrations.
- Ultimate ($19.99/month): 25 domains, unlimited users, 500,000 emails/month, 2-year retention, white-label reports, multi-organization management.
- Enterprise: custom, with SSO/SAML and 5-year retention.
Who wins on pricing? It depends on which tier you land on, and this is where most comparison articles get lazy.
On the free tier, PowerDMARC is more generous than we are: ten times our email volume and Hosted BIMI thrown in. If you have one domain, low volume and no budget, their free plan gives you more than ours.
On paid plans the gap flips hard. Our Basic is $2.99 for 3 domains — about $1 per domain. Theirs is $15 for 5 domains — about $3 per domain. Our Pro at $9.99 gives you 10 domains and the same 100,000 emails their $15 Basic gives you across 5.
So: cheapest way to monitor one domain badly is their free tier. Cheapest way to monitor several domains properly is us.
What they have that we don't
We would rather you hear this from us than discover it after signing up.
Hosted BIMI. Their strongest card, and they give it away on the free plan. You upload your logo and your VMC, they publish and serve everything, and you only add one CNAME to your DNS. We have a free BIMI checker and BIMI hosting on our roadmap. Today, if you want BIMI hosted for you, they do it and we don't.
Hosted SPF, MTA-STS and TLS-RPT. They will host and manage these records for you, including SPF flattening to get you under the 10-lookup limit. We deliberately don't: hosting your SPF record puts our infrastructure in the critical path of your email delivery, and we would rather you understand and fix your SPF at the source. Our SPF checker and SPF record generator exist for exactly that. Reasonable people disagree here — some teams love not having to think about it, others hate the dependency.
Geolocation reporting, on every plan including free. We don't have it.
Lookalike domain detection on Enterprise, for spotting typosquatted variants of your domain. We don't have it.
An AI Agent from the Basic plan, built into their product.
What we have that they don't
API access at a normal price. Ours is included from Pro at $9.99/month, with public OpenAPI 3.0 documentation at api.dmarc-examiner.com/api/doc/ that you can browse before paying anything. PowerDMARC lists API support under its Partner Program for MSPs and resellers, quoted on request. If your reason for buying a DMARC tool is to pull the data into your own systems, that difference is the whole decision.
A native MCP server. We ship one at mcp.dmarc-examiner.com, so Claude, Cursor or any MCP-compatible assistant queries your DMARC data directly: "which sources failed alignment on my domain this week?", answered against your real reports. None of the major DMARC vendors offers this.
It is worth being precise about how this differs from their AI Agent, because they are not the same thing. Theirs is an assistant inside their product, which they built and maintain. Ours is a protocol endpoint that lets the assistant you already use reach your data — alongside your other tools, in your own workflow. If you already work with an LLM every day, that distinction matters. If you don't, their approach is more immediately useful.
Forensic reports from $2.99. RUF reports are included in our Basic tier. They include them from their free tier too, so this one is a tie between us — but it is worth knowing, because most of the rest of the market charges considerably more for them.
A genuinely bilingual product. Interface, emails, onboarding, documentation, error messages and support in English and Spanish. PowerDMARC publishes marketing material in several languages, but the product experience is English-first. If your team or your clients work in Spanish, try dmarc-examiner.com/es and judge for yourself.
EU hosting by default.
Who should pick PowerDMARC
- You want BIMI hosted for you today, without waiting for our roadmap.
- You want SPF flattening or hosted MTA-STS and TLS-RPT as managed services.
- You have exactly one domain, low volume, and their free tier covers you.
- You need lookalike domain detection.
- You are an MSP or reseller and their Partner Program fits your model.
Who should pick DMARC Examiner
- You monitor several domains and the price per domain matters — $1 against $3 compounds.
- You want API access at $9.99 rather than a quote from a sales team.
- You already work with LLM assistants and want them plugged into your DMARC data through MCP.
- Your team or your clients work in Spanish.
- You would rather keep your DNS under your own control, with no hosted records in the delivery path of your mail.
- You want EU-hosted data by default.
The honest part
PowerDMARC ships more than we do. Their hosted services cover protocols we have not touched, and their free tier beats ours on volume. If your shortlist is decided by feature count, they win it.
What we think we do better is price per domain once you are paying, developer access to your own data, and LLM integration through an open protocol rather than a chatbot we control. And we do not put ourselves in the delivery path of your email, which is a feature to some readers and a missing feature to others.
Try both before deciding
Both free tiers are real and neither asks for a card. Ours starts without even signing up: analyze your domain in under 30 seconds, then compare the plans if the output looks useful. Run theirs in parallel for a week — with two free accounts you will learn more than any comparison article can tell you.
Conclusion
PowerDMARC optimizes for breadth: hosted everything, across the whole email authentication stack. We optimize for price per domain, open access to your data and staying out of your DNS. Both monitor DMARC correctly.
If you need managed hosting for BIMI, SPF or MTA-STS, buy PowerDMARC — we are not going to talk you out of a product that does something we don't. If you are watching what you pay per domain, want an API without a sales call, or already run LLM-assisted workflows, we are the better fit.
